Violence at Howe Community Park Results in Multiple Gunshot Victims in Sacramento's Arden-Arcade

Law enforcement in Sacramento are examining a gunfire incident that unfolded Saturday night April 18 at Howe Park as authorities were dissolving an unauthorized event of a crowd of several hundred.

Prior to the Shooting

Sacramento County law enforcement first arrived at Howe Park around 6:30 PM after receiving reports of individuals possibly carrying concealed weapons. Shortly after, another report was received describing a potential altercation occurring at the location.

Air support scanned the area from the air but was unable to locate the reported altercation. Nevertheless, it was apparent that hundreds of people had gathered without authorization without authorization.

The Moment Gunfire Erupted

Officers moved to clear the area by setting up around the park's perimeter and using their vehicle PA systems directing those gathered to go home. Roughly 15 minutes were spent for the crowd to leave.

At the height of the dispersal effort that between 20 and 25 rounds cut Arden Arcade shooting April 2026 through the air. The rapid succession of shots sent hundreds fleeing. Officers swiftly started looking for those injured.

Four Gunshot Victims

Altogether, four shooting victims were discovered with shooting injuries. The four individuals — made up of one woman and three men ranging in age through their in their 20s — were brought to nearby hospitals. Emergency physicians reported that two victims were in serious condition, one had moderate injuries, and one suffered minor injuries. According to authorities, all four were in stable condition.

Sacramento fire crews provided support and provided medical assistance those with gunshot wounds on location.

Crime Scene Evidence

The primary shooting scene seemed to have occurred adjacent to Cottage Way near the local Home Depot at the 2200 block of Howe Ave. Crime scene investigators found additional shell casings scattered along Cottage Way. Bullet holes were also found in the iron perimeter fence surrounding the Home Depot store. These findings confirmed that one of the gunmen had been discharging rounds toward the south from along Cottage Way in the direction of the Home Depot. The Home Depot was temporarily locked down while the scene was active. CSI units alongside detectives remained on scene throughout the night.

Arrests Made

Information relayed through scanner monitoring indicated that a suspect Kia had been stopped in the Solano County area. Four occupants were taken into custody. Law enforcement units were en route to collect those detained to return them to Sacramento for further questioning. Video evidence revealed that two shooters had been involved.
